The history
Palm Springs, California
1965 — 1988
Hope ran his desert tournament on the Crosby template and then turned the volume up. Five rounds, four courses, a celebrity field and a Palm Springs colour sense that has aged into something genuinely wonderful.
The desert wardrobe is the most technically interesting era in this archive: open mesh knits built to breathe at 95 degrees, terry-lined visors, and doubleknit polyester trousers in colours no mill would sign off on today.
Wear them as they were worn — flat front, no break, with a knit shirt tucked.
